Specialised pre-action sprinkler systems
A pre-action sprinkler system is a specialised type of fire suppression system designed for use in areas where accidental water discharge could cause significant damage, such as data centers, museums, libraries, or archives. It combines aspects of both wet and dry sprinkler systems, offering an added layer of protection against accidental activation.

The two or three step activation process of pre-action systems—first activating an alarm, then opening the pre-action valve upon fire detection and then activating individual sprinkler heads—provides an added level of protection against accidental discharge.
This makes pre-action systems suitable for environments where water damage must be minimized while still providing effective fire protection.
