Design services
We offer a fully comprehensive design solution, with a team of over 30 dedicated, directly employed sprinkler design engineers with varying levels of accredited expertise.

Level of expertise
- Level 4 1048 Loss Prevention Certification Board Certified, LPS1014 & LPS1204 for Fire Alarm, Detection and Gas Suppression Systems.
- Level 2 B.I.M. Certified Practitioners.
- Fully Operational in 3D Design including Navisworks, Revit, BIM360, Fabrication MEP & SprinkCAD.
- Experienced Engineers in 3D & 2D Coordination.
- Professionally Qualified Engineers including Degree level & Masters.
- Award-winning apprenticeship scheme.
Our design approach
- Initial tasks ahead of the Design Development Phase in order to ensure that the design is without unnecessary iterations.
- Close out any fundamental residual technical matters from the tender stage. Type of certification; LPS 1048 or completion certificate. List of any deviations.
- Close out general locations of principal fire systems equipment where not already agreed (main pipe runs, fire system control valves, fire alarm panels, inert gas cylinders).
- Issue and approval of technical submissions allow the correct equipment to be modelled, thus allowing spatial coordination/maintenance access.
- Obtain any identified missing information pertaining to design via RFI’s.
- Agree on the deliverables list (based upon ERs).
- Discuss the need for Building Control applications (if applicable).
- Production and approval of block plans and schematics, to ensure required areas/floors are protected.

Design development phase
- The overall objective at this stage is to enable the detailed design phase to continue with no significant open technical issues remaining.
- Production/markup of architects reflected ceiling plans to allow agreement as early as possible, avoiding any misalignment with equipment within the model.
- Scheduled sharing of models between trades via online portals this ensures each contractor is working with the most up-to-date models.
- Any significant changes should be highlighted directly to the other service coordinators to avoid any delay / minimise the design development period.
- Final clash detection and model sign-off before construction issue drawings.
Detailed design phase
- Important for the fire water supplies (fire water tanks and fire pump sets) to be finalized as early as possible to allow early procurement and finalization of associated civils detailed design.
- Carry out book table calculations of main pipe sizes and routes to ensure available pressures are sufficient.
- Any Fully Hydraulic calculations to be carried out to ensure tank capacity is sufficient.
- All construction issue drawings are fully dimensioned/annotated to ensure accurate installation.
- Important that all detailed interfaces are closed.
